Single Daily Action By Jordan Schneider

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? It is one of the most common questions relating to goal setting. You will find this question on a countless number of surveys and questionnaires, presented to all age groups and to people from all walks of life. Sometimes so much focus is placed on setting long term goals that the path leading to those goals becomes muddled and overwhelming. Suddenly the path to your better life is overgrown with obstacles such as family, work, finances and other daily activities that keep you from completing tasks that would take you closer to that goal. The tool you need to get past these obstacles is a simple one: Single Daily Action.

So what are Single Daily Actions? They are small things that you do every day that take you one step closer to long term goals. Whatever your long term goals are, whether they are to own a second home, a nicer car, be able to afford a 10 day cruise once a year or anything else, you need to do something everyday to bring that goal a little closer. It could be something as simple as researching areas where you someday want to live, looking for vehicle models with the features you want, or opening up a savings account for you vacation fund. Single Daily Actions arent necessarily BIG actions, they simply keep your goal at the front of your mind and help you achieve that goal both more quickly and more efficiently.

How do you go about deciding on your Single Daily Actions? The first thing you need is a long term goal. Following that, you need to determine what actions are necessary for you to reach it. Lets use the example of owning a second home. The actions necessary to make that goal a reality are: Deciding what area you want that home to be in (ie: on the beach, near a lake, in the mountains, etc), and researching homes in that area. You will want to determine an average price range for the kind of home you are looking for and set yourself on a budget. As you get closer to your goal you may want to go visit the areas you are looking at so you can see first hand which one you like the best. Finally, you will want to contact a realtor in that area to help you choose a home and make the purchase.

Now, that was only a few actions necessary to make your goal a reality. However there are small parts of these actions that you can do every day to help you get to that goal. For example, set a goal to look at 5 properties online per day. Set up a notebook with the location, square-footage and price of each home and compare these prices. Doing this will help you recognize a bargain when you see one! Also, you could open up a savings account where you can deposit a percentage of your monthly income to start accumulating a down payment for your second home. You may also want to research reality companies in that area and speak with several realtors by phone before selecting the one who would work the best for you and your situation.

By completing Single Daily Actions, you will keep your goal from getting lost in the shuffle of your day-to-day activities and be able to watch yourself get closer to that goal on a daily basis. You are far more likely to achieve that goal and to achieve it more quickly if you are doing something everyday to help it along, than if you put it in the back of your mind until it gets a little bit closer. What youll find if you do that, is that your goal will remain X number of years away, no matter how much time is passing because you are doing nothing to help yourself reach it. Single Daily Action will help you plot not only your destination, but also points along the way so you dont get lost on your journey.
